Specialised, thorough and efficient treatment

Oral surgery covers any medical procedure performed on the mouth, and especially involving the teeth, gums and jaw. It can include placement of dental implants and complex extractions, for teeth that may be too large or embedded to remove simply. At Kendrick View, our experienced oral surgeon performs oral surgical procedures in our advanced dedicated unit.

Why might I need oral surgery?

There are a number of treatments which require surgical intervention. Some of the most common include:

Complex Extractions

In certain cases, extractions can become more difficult, involving embedded or broken teeth. We are able to carry out these more complex procedures using our scanners to fully assess the tooth where needed and carry out a pain free extraction.

Wisdom Tooth Removal

If you have a wisdom tooth that has become impacted, we can remove it and resolve the issue with oral surgery. This is one of the most common oral surgery procedures, and involves making a cut in your gum to access and remove the problem tooth.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Will I find the surgery painful?

Oral surgery can be painful, but we do all we can to minimise this. We use local anaesthetic to numb the affected area, and make sure you are relaxed and comfortable before we begin. We also give you the chance to ask us any questions about your treatment to help you feel at ease.

  • I am very nervous about the prospect of oral surgery, can you help?

We understand that the thought of undergoing oral surgery can be daunting, but we want to help you feel as relaxed as possible about your treatment. We take a gentle approach, taking the time to discuss your procedure in as much or as little detail as you are comfortable with. We are also happy for you to listen to music during your surgery, if this helps you relax. Please talk to us if you are feeling nervous, as we will help in every way we can.

  • Will I need time off work after oral surgery?

Depending on the type of procedure you are having, you may need to take a couple of days off work to rest and recover fully. You should not return to work for the rest of the day after your surgery, and make sure you avoid strenuous activities. We will give you tailored advice based on your treatment. Please get in touch if you have any questions before or after your appointment.
