Virtually invisible teeth straightening

Invisalign is a very popular treatment, offering a discreet, comfortable and highly effective way to straighten your smile. The system is minimally invasive, using bespoke clear aligners rather than traditional metal brackets and wires which can cause soreness and irritation in your mouth.

Confidence

Straightening your teeth can have a hugely positive effect on your whole appearance, not just your smile. Your facial shape and structure are enhanced when teeth are in line, and keeping them clean becomes easier too. The boost to your confidence is clear to see, even beginning during the treatment process due to the near-invisible aligners.

Innovative but simple

The Invisalign system uses state-of-the-art modern dental technology but is incredibly easy to use. You wear custom-made clear aligners to move the positions of your teeth with gradual and gentle forces, slowly and carefully achieving your dream smile. All you need to do is wear each aligner for 20-22 hours per day, removing only for eating, drinking and cleaning both the aligner and your teeth.

Fixed braces versus Invisalign

Fixed braces and Invisalign are two popular orthodontic treatments that address misaligned teeth, offering effective solutions to achieve a straighter, healthier smile. Each approach comes with its own set of benefits and considerations, catering to different preferences and orthodontic needs.

Fixed braces

Fixed braces are a time-tested and highly effective method for correcting various orthodontic issues. The method is particularly beneficial for complex orthodontic cases, offering precise control and a high success rate in treating severe misalignments, overcrowding, overbites, underbites, and other dental issues.

While fixed braces are powerful and reliable, they can pose challenges in terms of maintenance and aesthetics. They may require more meticulous oral hygiene routines to prevent plaque buildup, and certain dietary restrictions may be necessary to avoid damaging the braces. However, they are a robust choice for achieving comprehensive and precise tooth movement over the course of the treatment.

Invisalign

Invisalign, on the other hand, represents a modern approach to orthodontic treatment, utilising clear, removable aligners made from smooth, transparent plastic. These aligners are custom-made to fit snugly over the teeth and are virtually invisible when worn.

Invisalign offers a more discreet and comfortable alternative to traditional braces. They gradually shift the teeth into the desired position, providing a more aesthetically pleasing orthodontic solution.

One of the primary advantages of Invisalign is its removability, allowing for easy cleaning and enabling the individual to eat without restrictions. Invisalign is ideal for individuals seeking a more subtle orthodontic treatment without the visual impact of traditional braces.

What can Invisalign fix?

Invisalign

Overcrowded teeth

Invisalign can gradually create space by shifting teeth to alleviate crowding issues.

Invisalign

Gaps between teeth

The aligners can close gaps between teeth by guiding them into a more aligned position.

Invisalign

Crossbite

Invisalign helps to align the upper and lower teeth properly to fix a crossbite.

Invisalign

Underbite

In cases of underbite, where lower teeth protrude over the upper teeth, Invisalign can help align the jaw and teeth.

Invisalign

Overbite

Invisalign treatment can address overbite concerns by helping upper teeth to properly overlap the lower teeth.

Invisalign

Open bite

For an open bite, where the upper and lower teeth don't meet when the mouth is closed, Invisalign can assist in correcting this misalignment.

Both fixed braces and Invisalign offer distinct advantages and are tailored to different orthodontic needs and your preferences. We can assess your individual needs taking into consideration the complexity of the case, lifestyle considerations, and aesthetic preferences

What does Invisalign treatment involve?

1

Initial Consultation

At your first appointment, we discuss Invisalign treatment in detail with you, and help you decide if it is right for you. We carefully examine your teeth and gums, ensuring they are healthy and ready for treatment. We also take 3D scans and images which will be used to create precise and accurate aligners.

2

Treatment Planning

We create your bespoke treatment plan using the scans and images of your teeth and discuss this with you in detail, giving you the opportunity to ask any questions or voice any concerns. Using innovative ClinCheck software, we can show you step by step how your teeth will move during treatment, and we can even give you a preview of how your new smile will look!

3

Gentle and Gradual Process

We will show you how easy it is to fit your custom clear aligners into your mouth and give any tips or advice. You will need to wear each aligner in the series for 1-2 weeks before moving on to the next one. Your teeth will move gradually throughout treatment, little by little creating your perfect smile. The aligners control the exact amount and timing of movement based on your treatment plan. We keep a close eye on your progress at regular appointments, ensuring each stage of treatment is going smoothly.

4

Smile!

Once you have worn your last aligner, your treatment is complete - start showing off your new smile with pride! We give you a final retainer to maintain your results for the long term, as teeth have a habit of moving out of place again otherwise.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Will Invisalign affect my speech?

You may find it takes a few days to get used to the aligners, and may have a slight lisp at first, but you should be talking clearly and confidently before long.

  • Are the aligners comfortable?

Yes, Invisalign aligners have been designed with comfort in mind, enabling you to easily wear them for up to 22 hours a day. They fit snugly over the teeth and have no metal brackets or wires to irritate the skin.

  • How long do I need to wear the aligners for each day?

You need to wear your aligners for around 22 hours a day in order for your treatment to be most effective. You can take them out for eating, drinking, brushing your teeth and playing contact sports.

  • What are Invisalign aligners made of?

The Invisalign aligners are made from strong medical grade thermoplastic material, which has been uniquely developed for the Invisalign system.

  • How long does Invisalign treatment take?

Treatment length varies from case to case, but most Invisalign treatments are completed in 9-18 months. Straightforward cases have a faster treatment time, whilst patients needing more complex straightening can expect to wear their aligners for longer. We can advise you of your expected treatment time after your initial consultation.

  • Will I need to wear retainers after my treatment?

Yes, you will need to wear retainers to keep your teeth in their new positions following your Invisalign treatment. Teeth have a habit of moving out of place, so you will need to wear retainers on a part time basis (usually overnight) for as long as you wish your teeth to stay straight. You will be given fixed or removable retainers.
