'Kendrick View', built around 1770, is renowned as one of Reading's most distinguished Georgian properties. The house was originally the home of the well known local writer Mary Russel Mitford who wrote ‘Our Village'. The house was purchased with a sum of money won by her father in the Irish sweepstake. Mary was reputed to have chosen the winning number at the age of ten.
'Kendrick View' became one of the town's first dental practices, established before 1890. Some of our older patients still remember Mr Ellingham, and many will remember the trio of Archibald, Birtwhistle and Kirkwood in the expansion of the post war years under the National Health Service.
A disastrous fire in 1980 necessitated the complete refurbishing of the premises, inside and out. The present partners have pursued a policy of continuous improvement to provide our patients with the latest equipment and technology, whilst maintaining the fabric and classical features of the original Georgian architecture.
