Decay Prevention

Here are the key things you need to do to prevent tooth decay:

  1. Brush with a pea-sized amount of FLUORIDE-containing-Toothpaste, 3 times per day. Your toothpaste should contain 1100 ppm Fluoride or higher.
  2. Spit out but do not rinse after brushing.
  3. Do your best tooth clean with FLUORIDE toothpaste before going to bed.
  4. Do NOT eat or drink anything other than water at night.
  5. Have gaps of at least 2 hours between eating and drinking (except water). Try to do this by eating and drinking at breakfast, elevenses, lunch, tea and supper. When you are thirsty between please drink water.
  6. Use Disclosing Tablets to check how well brushing is being done. Plaque left on teeth will be stained by the harmless food dye and shows up much more easily. Brushing should be modified to make sure the plaque is removed.
  7. If you are prone to decay or already have cavities you may benefit from using extra fluoride. Ask your dentist.
And don’t forget, regular checks at least twice per year.
